Sleep insomnia- sleep better

Just like Goldilocks we want to have our sleep environment just right; we don’t want to be too hot or too cold at night. This can affect your ability to sleep and contribute towards insomnia. Having the right bedclothes and night clothes for the season can make us feel more comfortable and help us to sleep better.

As the seasons are changing, we start to think about bringing out cold weather clothes in the autumn or lighter clothes in spring and summer. We know that wearing right clothes makes us feel comfortable and ready for the activities that we do in each season. It is the same at night. If we are too hot or cold, this can lead to poor sleep.

The best room temperature for sleep is 18C. This means making sure that you are not overheating your bedroom in winter and ventilating in summer and that's better for sleep. Having different bed covers for summer and winter are also helpful. For example, a heavier duvet in winter and a lighter one in summer. If you wear clothes in bed, you may also want to have a summer sleep wardrobe as well as a winter one.

Getting our bedroom and ourselves ready in the best way helps us to sleep. It can also help us to suffer less from sleep anxiety and insomnia.
