Frequently asked questions
Hypnotherapy and Sleep therapy
What is the process of solution-focused hypnotherapy?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy combines psychotherapy and hypnosis to help you achieve your goals. Each session involves discussing positive progress, understanding brain function, setting small achievable goals, and entering a state of relaxation known as trance. During trance, I use visualizations and positive suggestions to facilitate change. This approach focuses on finding solutions rather than delving into past issues, helping you make positive changes effectively.
How does online hypnotherapy work?
Online therapy can help you access therapy at a location that is convenient to you. I work with people all over the world from Rome to Bangkok and in the UK when it is more convenient for them. Sessions work in the same way as face to face sessions. You will only need a computer or tablet with an internet connection. I will send you a secure video link for the session that no one else can access. In my experience and according to some research online hypnotherapy is as effective as face to face.

What happens in an initial consultation?
The first part of the initial consultation consists of information gathering. We establish how you want me to help you and what you want to achieve. I also gather Information about any conditions and symptoms. After that, I will explain to you how the brain works, how this is relevant to your situation and how I can help you with solution focused hypnotherapy/sleep therapy or gut directed hypnotherapy or other techniques as appropriate for your issue. I will use this session to design a treatment plan for you that will help you achieve your goals.

Solution focused hypnotherapy works very quickly compared to a lot of talking therapies. Most clients need around 6-8 sessions but it's up to you. You will let me know when you want to finish and there is never any pressure to continue beyond what you think is useful. Tackling specific fears and phobias may need fewer. You will decide when you have a reached your goals so you have as many sessions as you feel you need. You decide from session to session if you would like to continue and there is never any pressure to return if you feel you are finished.

What is trance?
Trance is a very ordinary state that we enter many times a day, such as when driving or watching television. In hypnotherapy, trance is a focused state of awareness used to achieve specific goals. It occurs when two minds focus on the same thing, allowing access to the subconscious mind, which is open to developing solutions. Trance is very safe, and you cannot be harmed if it is interrupted. You are in control during trance and will only accept suggestions that your subconscious mind agrees with. I cannot make you do anything against your will or values.
Is hypnotherapy a complementary therapy?
Yes, hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. This means it can be used alongside any other therapy or medication that you are using or may use in the course of hypnotherapy. Many of my clients are using medication prescribed by their medical team and may also be using other therapies such as physiotherapy at the same time as seeing me.
How is my privacy protected during hypnotherapy sessions?
